I'm a sucker for maps and map images and this tickles me.  It's fantastic that the states are to scale, too!  I commend you on your tiny, even chain stitch!

I love it! The frame you found is perfect with it. I don't do embroidery but I sew. I'm picturing a quilted or applique version of this. Now I just have to finish all of the other projects I have going first.   Undecided So many crafts I love, but so little time to do them!

This is awesome! How long did it take you to embroider it all? I heart the heart! Smiley

It took me about a month or so. I just worked on it while watching TV and eventually I finished it. I have to admit the project was a little daunting at first... I wasn't sure if I would finish it.

That's really cool!  Now I want to see if I can do something cool with our provinces and territories.... Nunavut might be a bit of a b***h though ;p  (see link for explanation of the Canada joke)  http://geology.com/canada/nunavut.shtml

The original cutout would be a good thing for elementary kids learning shapes and geography, too- I'm going to pass it on to a teacher friend of mine.

Thanks for posting!

this is so cute! i love the concept and the frame Smiley

not to burst your bubble or anything, but the states aren't truly to scale, since alaska would have to be much much bigger... if you look at google maps and pan out to view north america, you'll see that alaska is actually equal (size-wise) to about half of the US! there is a lot of confusion over the true size of it, due to many common maps showing alaska downsized, and hawaii enlarged, since there often isn't the appropriate amount of room to feature these states. haha ok, end geography nerd rant Wink
