Bottlecap pendant work in progress

Hey all.  After going through hell in our lives, my family has finally come out the other side and I've begun to feel creative again.   I'm working on an idea for making pendants out of used bottle caps.  The insert is friendly plastic, melted and stamped, with a vintage rhinestone in the center, sealed with crystal lacquer.  Apologies for the lousy cellphone photo.  What do you think?

Cool to see other things used in bottle caps besides photos/images and the FP was a good idea.  Did you stamp it while it was in the bottle cap and still warm, or did you do it separately and just make sure it would end up the right diameter?

The Crystal Lacquer should be fine too instead of the traditional epoxy resin, etc, re scratchability since it's inside a cell and lower than the walls.  How are you planning to use it?

I stamped it first, allowed it to cool completely, then cut it in a circle shape.  I cut it freehand, but I'm going to use a template on the next one, or possibly a punch.  I'm debating whether or not to glue a bail to the back, or punch a hole for attaching a jump ring.   It will go on a vintage brass chain I won on ebay years ago.

It's beautiful, I love the colors. I've got a ton of caps I've been saving for projects too.

That's lovely!  I'm currently getting into jewelry making.  Do you flatten the bottle caps first, and if so, how?

I didn't flatten it all the way, because I wanted to keep a little of the indented shape.  I took a pair of pliers and gently pulled the sides out until I liked the way they looked.  I'm still playing around with different ideas for finishing it.  Thanks everyone for your feedback!

That's a really nice idea. I've been thinking about doing something with bottle caps too, but since I'd have to buy them somewhere I haven't gotten past the thinking part  . Please post some pictures of the finished product; I'd like to see how it turns out.
