I bought some watermelon fabric on sale a while back with not a clue what to do with it. This week I finally put it to use with my very first tiered skirt. The tutorial I used (and the measurements calculator, which was A GODSEND, can be found here: http://www.chicaandjo.com/2009/05/28/sew-a-tiered-ruffled-skirt/). It was so very simple when following her instructions.

It's super long because I'm 5'7" and wanted to wear it with red heels, but I think the next one I make will be calf length. I'm also going to make some baby sized ones to reduce my stash.

Then this is a recon project, I used a large Rob Zombie men's shirt for the bottom and took in the sides, and made a top by copying a thrift shop dress I tore apart a few years ago.

I LOVE the Rob Zombie dress!!  I always like the comic style of his tees, and the red and white stripe compliments it so well!

Love 'em both!
That Zombie dress is awesome! I have a few rock shirts from back in the day I now have an idea with.

The skirt is super sweet! I love the solid with Watermelon print. Very cute!

Once upon a time a girl named Indigo played with her Gran's sewing machine... the rest is fabric hoarding, sewing addicting history!
