When I'm visiting my parents for the summer, I sometimes leave little messages with doodles on the kitchen counter before I go to sleep so my mom can find them when she wakes up. She seemed to particularly like this guy, so I decided to try and capture his essence in a plushie so that she can have a tangible version. Smiley It's my mom's birthday today, so I've wrapped him up and am giving him to her later tonight!

I also baked her a "chocolate" date cake, which is currently hiding in my room and some chickpea and tamago sushi. My parents live in a small farm town, so they sadly can't get sushi anywhere. :[ I brought some nori sheets with me from Toronto, so I was able to make some. I'll be posting both of those recipes on my website soon...  I'll probably post it in the Cooking forum too. Especially for the date cake, because it's so good and there is no eggs, sugar or butter in the recipe.

Anyways I went off on a tangent. And now I'm hungry. Gah.

This is such a cute gift idea! And I'll have to make my mom the date cake, she's allergic to eggs and it's so hard to find baked goods without any.

Thanks! I should be posting the date cake recipe in the next day (maybe tonight). But I have an egg-free lemon date scone recipe on my site currently.
