Our postmen here in ireland get to know everyone very well. Granted I do live in a village, but when I moved around the corner, there was no need to ever get redirected mail as the postman knows who I am and where I live and so he brings me whatever has my name on it, no matter how it gets addressed. He will also leave packages in my shed if necessary.

The post office is trying to bring in zip codes, but we don't want them, without zip codes the postman has to know his 'customers' but with them, they can bring in anyone and so we loose that personal touch.

I bet it's really nice to know your postman. I've never seen mine and I live here for over a year now. Sad No personal touch at all...

Our regular carrier is named John, he's pretty friendly and we leave cookies for him whenever we bake.  If I'm out walking the dog while he's out delivering, John always tosses a dog biscuit to Sadie.  Whenever I ship from home he always grabs the boxes, no comments or complaints.  I've only ever had problems with people at the PO, and that's been rare.

I made a post on the poly clay board that shows some close up pix of the wand I made for this swap. I was pretty happy with how it turned out.
