i am looking for a new sewing machine that is under $150.00 with a stitch that will finish edges like a serger? is there such a machine?

As far as I know, you can't get anything under $150 that will trim the seam allowance and encase it just like a serger. Not anything new, anyway. You could get a machine that does a zig zag stitch, which is pretty basic and comes on most machines, and use that to encase the raw edge. The result is similar, but not exactly the same.
