In addition to my stockpile of garlic dill pickles, I will need mass quantities of booze for the apocalypse. Luckily, it is cherry season. Hit your local farmers market and make this delicious cocktail as soon as humanly possible. It's called Cherry Bounce, and it will knock your socks off.

What you'll need:
a glass jar with a secure lid
a funnel
a jug of vodka
sour cherries
sugar
a chopstick (to pit the cherries)

The recipe:
2 cups pitted cherries
1 cup sugar
4 cups vodka
put all ingredients in the jar, and shake

Please note, you are encouraged to adjust the recipe to suit your taste. Shake the jar once a day until all of the sugar dissolves. Then, store the Bounce in a cool/dark place for 6 months. The cherries will be absolutely radioactive by that time, and I dare you to eat them.

Enjoy! If anyone makes this, let me know how it turns out. I'll be hiding out in my bomb shelter in January with my jug of Cherry Bounce...

This sounds tasty!

Does the vodka pull the color out of the cherries? I used to make strawberry cordial with brandy and the brandy would leach all of the color from the berries. We called them strawberry "noses" when we ate them out of the cordial jar. Smiley

Ditto.

But if I mention 2 words to my boyfriend, apocalypse and booze, he'll be all OVER this recipe.  Ahaha Cheesy

Ya'll think I'm kidding?  Man's trying to make his guitar room look like a vault.

Well, now that I think about it, in 6 months I'll be free to try some Cheesy

Thanks for the recipe, I'll be trying this!  just curious, there was something on yahoo news about sales of vaults and such increasing, now this recipe...does everyone know something that I don't??  Is it because of the Mayan calendar?
