This is my first completed embroidery. I've done some cross-stitch kits in the past and did a crash course in needlework at a craft show, but this is my first go solo with a hand-drawn design. It's a bit wonky in places but I'm quite proud of it. The design is based on the picture book The Lost Thing  http://www.shauntan.net/books/lost-thing.html by Shaun Tan. I've been a big fan of this book and his work in general for a long time. I was inspired to do this piece after seeing the beautiful short film based on the book at the Sydney Film Festival and realised how much I love this logo, and the others like it in the book. I freehanded the logo onto my fabric with pencil, which is why it doesn't match exactly (and why its a little lop-sided) but I think I've captured the spirit of the book pretty well.

So here's my first embroidery:

(the writing in the banner is written in pen as I couldn't sew that tiny! That is the only cheating I did!)
C&C welcome!

I have decided that the hokey pokey is what it's all about.

I love it, the style of the logo really suits the simple embroidery. Thanks for the link to the book, it looks very interesting.

That's such a cute embroidery. And very well done for your first time too. Smiley

I love it!  I love the simplicity of the lines and if you would'nt have said it was wonkey I wouldn't have noticed anything, I had to look hard to find it.  I hope you make more!

I would love to swap ATC size "pillows" with my fellow teesha moore peeps.
