Just to be clear, I wasn't going to post this, but I'm buckling under peer-pressure by a craftster lurker. At least I think she's just a lurker. If she's not, she hasn't told me her screen name. I'll just call her pfaffy.

So, I made these cakes for my daughter's birthday over the weekend. Her Royal Highness turned 1, so I used the same Wilton 3D bear pan that I used for her brother's first cake years ago. As an added bonus, I scored a mini-bear pan from a Wilton grab-bag, so I used that for her smash cake. This is a chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream & Duff-brand fondant (OMG - this stuff tastes GOOOOOOD!!!)
I gave myself two challenges: 1) to make a monkey from the bear (that was easy thanks to ideas I got from cakecentral.com), and 2) give the monkey a dress to match HRH's party dress.
Here's the result (click on the pic for a larger picture):
Front of the monkey (the cake, not my daughter)

Smash cake (this did not stand up well to repeated birthday faceplants)

Thanks for looking. I had
so much fun making this one!
