Man, I wish I had taken a before pic.
I found a really sturdy bookshelf (made from actual wood!!) in my neighbors trash. It was covered with stickers and, sadly, a few patches of bird poop. My plan was to re-stain it once I stripped all the yuck off, but the wood was too splotchy.
So a couple of coats of paint later, I decided to Dr. Seuss it up for my little man.

(I think my neighbors made the holes in the back to use it as a media unit at one time)

I used a projector to trace the images on the side and then painted them with acrylic. I used a Marks-A-lot for the black. I tried using a Sharpie, but it WOULD NOT draw on the paint (I thought Sharpies were supposed to write on anything).

I know nothing ground breaking, but I love the way it came out, and so does my Bean!

This is gorgeous! I love how bright it is and with the black and white illustrations it's not overwhelming.

Thank you! I had a lot of fun painting it. Some friends gave me a bunch of wall paint- that's what I used for the orange and green. Once it was painted it reminded me of the cover of Green Eggs and Ham- which inspired me to do the Seuss paintings on the sides.

That's fantastic!  I thought the graphics were vinyl wall art until I read the description.  (*looks at photographs again in awe*)

This is so great! When I was 2, my mother refurbished a small bureau for my room and painted it white with a large image of Jiminy Cricket. It was all done freehand and I still have it today because I don't want to paint over her awesome work(I'm 32 now). I hope your little guy will have the same fond memories of this bookshelf when he's 32 Smiley

Thanks! Funny you should say this, for some reason when I was painting this I envisioned it in his dorm room years from now!

Thanks everyone for your kind words!
