Wow, that is very impressive. This past spring I had to take a class on color and we worked alot with tiny swatches.  3072 is just an incredible. I need to find one of those tiny square hole punches. The hobby store where I live only had the punches with the rounded edges.

That turned out amazing...and made me feel totally guilty that I have never finished my watercolor quilting projects from years ago that are the same look, only 2" fabric squares sewn together. 
My DH has a poster of Van Gogh's Starry Night that is made up of small sections of Van Gogh's paintings.  It used to hang in our living room before he replaced it with a large ship model.

I think I might try this but I will probably use a variety of scrapbook paper scraps and my paper trimmer to cut long strips that I can then snip 1cm pieces off of. I love it anyway! Do you know how your mom pixelated the original picture?
