This rocks SO hard I have no words for it! I hope you become a featured craft of 2010 because just wow! I've done some stuff similar to this, but nowhere near the scale with such small pieces (yes I consider 1cm small).
Great job! Seriously, I'm in awe of your patience!

I've bookmarked this, hit this rocks, shown it to my husband, looked at it constantly for the past two days.....I am thinking I need to give this a try!

Could you give me some insight to how you got started, what you attached them with, etc. (I read your tips about colors changing and people being too tan)  I just want to make sure I understand it all before I do it!

Thanks!

Haha, thanks greenishfroggie     Wink

As I mentioned, I used a square punch to cut the squares... it would have been impossible otherwise (or at least I wouldn't have had THAT much patience!). I got this from a scrapbooking supplies store.

I then glued them onto black foam core using an ordinary glue stick. Using foam core was really practical as I could easily move and store my project without fearing it would come apart. I chose black foam core so that it wouldn't be as obvious if there were any cracks between some squares...

On my "pattern", I divided the whole picture in 4 x 4 squares so that I could keep track of the progress and applied the squares to the board in the same fashion. Punch out 16 squares, glue them on.... repeat 192 times, easy!

At first I thought of sealing the finished project with modpodge but decided not to do it 'cause I was paranoid it might seep through the paper too much and reveal the color/pattern of the other side of the paper or simply the black board underneath...

So I just framed the whole thing and it worked out perfectly!

That's pretty much it, very simple overall, just takes a lot of patience! It was great for relaxing, very mind numbing after a while!

On a final note... as I was working on this project, I saw a commercial for Behr paint I think it was... you could see all kind of objects, situations, etc and then a little square got punched out of it to show that you could match their paint colors to anything.... Whoa, I felt like that commercial was meant for me at that moment! HA!

Thank you all for your nice comments   Cheesy

So this weekend while browsing through AC Moore I was significantly upset that I could not find a square paper punch. I really like this idea and I am gonna be moving into my own place soon so I need some wall art and this is an AWSOME idea.
