My son is in scouting and really like tying knots. He recently learned how to make monkey fists and decided at the end of a key chain was the best place to put one.

He also made a cobra stitch belt. I'll post pictures of that soon. It is pretty awesome!!!

That is really cute!  Now I want to go ask my bf (he's an eagle scout) to make me some!

Nice job. I tried to make a monkey fist & it's hard. Did he put anything inside?

He started off putting a marble in the center. I think he's now making a smaller knot of some sort for the middle. There's some great instructional videos on youtube if you are interested:)

Your son is very talented!  I've tried to make monkey fist knots in the past and haven't had much luck, but his is amazing!

My boyfriend has one of these on his key chain. I've been bugging him for the last year to make me one!!! Love them!

The way I have always been taught is that a monkeys fist has something hidden inside, while a Turk's head has nothing in it. I am sure you are right, and it sounds like the kind of thing that could vary country to country region to region.
