so here is my angler fish Smiley
he's made of a mixture of silver and a pink mix.  teeth and other pointy bits are wire.  there's also deko-gel on the tail and fins ,on the teeth, and a drop here and there.
the little fishies are in primary colours and varnished to contrast with the angler's subtle colouring.  and the star glows in the dark.
i used 'bake and bond' to stick all the fishes together and i'm sooo glad i did it from underneath cos the darn stuff remained visible!!

OMG!!!! That is AWESOME!!!  Nouga I love it!!! lol there are so many things about it to rave about!  The face is so intimidating... those teeth!  The glow in the dark star! (did you use a glow in the dark clay for that?), the fins and tail!!!

I am so glad we decided on the angler fish!  I can't wait to start on mine... this arm better heal faster.

I need to find deco gel from the local craft store...

thanks - deko -gel is liquid clay so the sculpey one is quite similar i believe.

you can also use it to transfer pictures onto it but i've never tried that.  and other things too...

yes i used glow in the dark clay.  i meant to make his eyes glo too but i forgot...

i'm glad you like it... well i wouldn't rave but i quite like it!!

the 'seaweed' is a bit ugly tho...

To simulate seaweed, I might use that paperlike masking tape and wrap it around a wire, then paint it with different shades of olive/darkgreen, cut the edges to give it a bit more effect.  I'd also use some real pebbles to make a base.

I am thinking of making a wire bone structure for my angler fish, then wrap translucent clay around it... not sure how it will turn out.  The translucent clay doesn't work that well unless it is thin.  Does the liquid clay melt in oven? or does it harden... I have never used it before.  How do you apply it to the fins/tail?

deko gel is  thick and milky.  and liquid.  it hardens in the oven but its rubbery. not stiff and brittle.

i laid out the bits of wire on baking parchment and  glooped the deko-gel on...when it was baked i snipped off any extra bits.  then i stuck them in the fish.

lol what a great idea for a transparent fish!!!

The deko gel didn't stick to the baking parchment?

Hmmm I am seriously considering lathering each side of the fish with that deko gel although I need to give it a skin first before applying the deko gel or it would have no surface to adhere to.

Actually I am also thinking of putting a little light bulb and hooking it up to a battery LOL
