The canvas was ripping away from the soles on these bad boys, my boyfriend thought they were absolutely discussing, they were so old he didn’t want to let me wear them in public. He didn’t understand why I wouldn’t just throw them away [especially after I bought an identical bran new pair..]  A few weeks ago before my vacation I was looking for a project to keep me busy on the ferry ride, so I tossed them in the wash and these suckers were born… Yes, I embroidered my shoes in public.  [this is only my second time trying embroidery, just kinda made it up as I went. I don't know any of the technicalities of it]

I might add some more to it at a later date.. i was thinking RITE FOOT/ RONG FOOT on the tongues or something just to be silly..

So cute!  I love them!  You can't even tell they were old or ripping (did you fix the rips with the monsters?).  I haven't done embroidery either... is it hard to embroider on something as thick as shoe canvas?

Such a great idea - I always have a hard time saying good bye to my old canvas shoes, and that's always where they break first, excellent way of prolonging their life!

What sort of needle did you use to get through the rubber?

Bye the way, I often craft on public transport - usually crocheting, since I discovered that wood crochet hooks are ok in hand luggage on the plane  Smiley

These are so cute! What a great idea to embroider them!

I know what you mean about loving the comfiness of old shoes as opposed to new shoes, which aren't at all broken in! I once had sandals that I wore until you could practically see through the bottom of them. This is a great way to restore life to your fave shoes!

These look great.  I had a similar experience with a book bag in high school once.  It had so many patches I don't know if much of the original fabric showed.
