For my daughter's first birthday party, I went with a teddy bear picnic theme.  I made four bears, two big and two little.  I used the Wilton Stand-up Cuddly Bear Pan for the big bears and the Wilton Mini Stand-up Bear Pan for the little bears.  I also made a tree stump table from a round cake pan.  Luckily, my mom helped me pipe some of the bear fur or I would have been up all night long.

The entire cake.  Everything is cake or icing.

The polar bear was made out of lemon cake and frosted with buttercream using the hair tip.

The tree stump table was also lemon cake.  I frosted the top smooth, piped the lines on top, and piped around the sides with a star tip and made it messy to kind of look like bark.  The bears' mini cupcakes on top were strawberry cake and frosted with pink buttercream with purple sugar sprinkles.

The Josie bear cake was lemon cake frosted with buttercream using the hair tip.  This was her smash cake.

The panda bear was strawberry cake with black and white buttercream frosted with the hair tip.

The brown bear was chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosted with the hair tip.

The dessert spread.  My sister made the little teddy bear chocolates.

The birthday girl enjoying her cake!

Very cute! I like how you had a whole teddy bear theme going! The little cupcakes on the tree stump and the small bears are my favourite part.

That is the cutest thing I have ever seen! (aside from Josie) I love how she has her own bear to dig into.  What a great idea.
I've been looking into getting the bear mold, how easy was it to use?
Great job, you're awesome!

This cake is the cutest thing ever!  I love the tree-stump table, and your frosting job (on everything, but I really, really love the panda bear) is just gorgeous.  ...I definitely want one of these Wilton bear pans, now.

The bear pans were not that hard to use actually.  I mixed one regular cake mix and one pound cake mix for the big bears.  I coated the pan with Wilton Cake Release.  The hardest part was getting the clips on to the pans to hold the two halves together.  I filled them pretty full; the batter will leak out of the top and edges some so you have to put the pan on top of a cookie sheet.  I also followed someone's suggestion online and did not use the heating core.  The person online said it was more trouble than it was worth.  I lowered the temperature to 350 degrees and baked a little longer.  I forget how long it ended up taking.  I kept checking them with a skewer to see when it was done in the middle.  Then I followed the directions about cooling the cakes.  For the mini bears and the tree stump, I used one cake mix, but lowered the amount of oil down to 2 tablespoons to make it a denser cake.  I am very happy with the results from the bear pans!
