There is always some trouble whenever you are naked with a snake.

Ooh, lovely! Such wonderful texture! How in the world did you get that level of detail?

HotCha - with a lot of patience.  I made the tree first... spent quite a bit of time drawing lines on the trunk and roots, I almost gave up drawing lines on the snake.  I took a break and came back to it.  Took me a whole day.

Nouga - Thank you Cheesy  I can't wait to see your snake.  When I was making the snake out of that flesh like orange sculpey, it creeped me out.

No I didn't use armatures.  I started out with the tree which gave the snake some support to hang over.

It is about  2 inches tall... so its too small for armatures.

I used the cheap white sculpey for the tree and saved the good sculpey for the snake.  Ooo I will go see your snake now!

Oh Nouga we both have different styles, no one is better than the other Smiley

WOW that is soooo tiny!!  WOW!!! that makes your snake even more amazing!!!

true we have different styles but yours is wonderfully finished and detailed and sooo realistic - i just whipped mine out in a couple of hours - with an easy cartoony look  and far from perfect!!

and i still don't like snakes. Smiley

I was thinking, if I wanted to make a bigger tree stump, I would seriously have to consider an armature.

What I was surprised was, in making the tree, the less effort I put into the tree (the more misshapened it was) the better.  It took some patience drawing lines to give the bark some texture.  The other thing was, where stump ended, I stuck extra clay there for the time being and suddenly realized it added to the look.

I have to find a way to remove the sheen from the acrylic paint... it detracts from the tree stump.  Any ideas?

acrylic paint is shiney....

ok i googled it and it seems you can buy a matte medium that you can paint over as you would with varnish.  it seems it looks milky but dries clear.

I'll try that.  I will head the craftstore later this week to look for it.

I'm glad we did this theme Nouga.  It was so fun.
