Me and my dog wearing crafty creations!

I bought this lame dress at Goodwill for $4.00 last week because I wanted to experiment with my new sewing machine. I figured I could turn it into an Urban Outfitters-esque dress pretty easily.

I started by cutting off a good chunk of the bottom and sewing a new hem, then I took in the top to make it more form fitting. Throw in a nice waist belt and it ended up looking pretty good. I even made a little cape for my dog with the left over fabric!  Grin

Great job! Projects like this are what got me into design in the first place. Reconstruction is a great way to get started because it's faster, tends to be less expensive (Goodwill is cheaper than the fabric store), and you start to get a good concept for how things go together when you're constantly tearing them apart.

Great job, and good eye on the print. It's adorable!

This looks really cute!  I love it with the belt, it definitely reads Urban Outfitters to me.  Smiley

I'm always scared of 4$ dresses... It's not like its a lot, but in all probability, I will ruin it. haha.

You fixed it really well, though. Nice Smiley
