I always hear great things about them. Sadly there's no such thing in Florida. Cry

I discovered the joy of Half Price when I moved to Texas from NY (who doesn't have them) and now I don't know what I'd do without them!

Half Price Books is the greatest store ever, well outside of Hobby Lobby and Michaels that is.

There is a place (a couple actually) in Toronto called BMV (books, music, video) that has great prices on used and new books, I love them.  Otherwise, Heather Reisman has a stranglehold on the bookstore business and muscled out a lot of smaller chains years ago.

BUT, for older books, I check out www.bookcloseouts.com - they have amazing prices, are American, but also ship out of Thorold, ON, so Canadian's can get great pricing too, and not have to pay through the nose for shipping and duties.  If one is not looking for a new release, that is the place to check for me!  They carry a lot of craft and hobby titles too.

I'm kind of obsessed with PaperbackSwap.com  You list all the books that you don't read anymore and other members request your books and you mail them the book.  Each book you mail out gets you 1 credit.  You can then use your credits to request books you are interested in reading.  Each book = 1 credit.  To mail a book out it costs about $2-$2.50

I am sooo lucky because I live in Portland, Oregon - home of Powell's Books.  www.powells.com  That's right - a bookstore that covers a whole city block!   Cool
