Catching the Undead Since 2011!

I just finished up this terrific chunky cabled blanket for onegroovyday for the FOC Wist Swap.  She received today which means I can finally share photos!

The blanket is a pretty easy and repetitive knit.  The cabling is simple and helps to break up the monotony of the otherwise two-row pattern repeat.  The pattern is from Lion Brand's website (you can find the pattern here) and I used 9 skeins of LB Wool-Ease Thick and Quick.

Since this was actually the second time I've made this blanket, I was aware that the pattern actually calls for five separate knitted panels that are later sewn together.  Seaming is my enemy so this time around, I knit the blanket it one piece to avoid the stress.  It actually worked out quite well, however it proved to be a pretty warm and heavy knit.  Near the end, I had three pounds of blanket to move around which got pretty tiresome on my hands.

BUT, I was able to start and finish the blanket in a little less than a week, though I'll admit to doing not much more than knitting during that time.  I hope she likes the blanket.. it certainly was a fun knit!!

Exceptional in every way! The color is especially fantastic - one of my favorites Smiley. OGD is sooo lucky to have received this. I bet she is totally thrilled.

A lovely knit!  I really like the lack of seams -- great idea.  Fewer future repairs will be needed.  I may make one of these as a Christmas gift!  I also really like the color!  Nice choice!

I made this blanket as a christmas git to my parents. I had enough trouble lugging around the panels let alone knitting it as one whole piece! Go you! It looks phenomenal! Grin
