Very smart idea; I hate trying to find boots to fit my calves.
I might go for a red or purple ribbon myself.  I think the rattail might bug my cutting in after a while.

Ribbon. especially for the burlesque shows.
How did you bind it? I'm new to all craftiness.
When you cut the leather were you able to sew.. um the seem. I'ce attempted to fix a leather bag but I couldn't get even our strongest needle through it.

Edit: Only saw the last picture with the laces, didn't see the one with you wearing it. I change my vote.
or thinner ribbon?

Oh my gosh, am I the only one who has the opposite problem? I can't wear boots (which i LOVE) because they flap around my legs when I walk. And, I like the rattail lacing!

That is brilliant! Especially since so many people have the calves problem. Normally I would go with ribbon lacing, but the rat tail looks very good. You can see more of your bright tights through it, so I guess it provides more continuity and contrast.

I'm gonna further confuse the issue by voting for the rat-tail lacing. :p And fantastic job!

My God, so sexy, I prefer the rat-tail myself, looks a bit more professional. I think maybe the ribbon is too thick else I would have a hard time. Now I want to do this, even though the boots I have fit perfect. hehe

You are a GENIUS!  I have the same problem. (Seriously, do the women they use as lasts never walk?  I'm hardly an exercise fiend, and I've never once found a boot that will zip up that last 2 inches.)

They look really good.

As for the lace vs. ribbon, I'd say it depends on your outfit.  If you're hosting in a more girly outfit, I'd go with the ribbon, but if you're dressed in a domme-y outfit, I'd go with the lacing.  Maybe even make the lacing thicker if it's a big crowd, so they can see it clearly at the back.

LOL!  I think I have those boots (in their before state)!  Cheesy

what a great way to make them fit.  I sometimes have this problem too, but I don't think I would ever have the guts to alter them.

I vote ribbon.  Grin

Will swap for ceramic bisque steer skulls!
Always in need of things like these!!!
Found another soup of acrylic, seed, glass, wood, polymer, metal, and shell beads!  PM me if you want to swap!!
LOTS of fabric available too!!

Brilliant!  And I say rat-tails.  Although being too big for my calf was never my problem with boots... well, until I started roller derby. Now it is more of an issue.

Wow great idea!!!  Wink They look wonderful, I like both style of lacing. I actually tend to have the opposite problem, the boots are to big for my calves. I wonder if I could still do this, but just remove part of the boot shaft and then lace together.
