I'm going to a potluck this weekend at my local archery club. Hotdogs/Brats are provided, but everyone is to bring something. It's an outdoor event, mostly men...you know outdoorsy types. I'm going to bring some cookies, but I wanted to bring along something else as well. Any ideas?

I also vote for potato or pasta salad.

I even had a salad recently that was a layered green salad (with lettuce, peas, water chestnuts, cheese, etc.) with cheese tortellini on the bottom, and it was quite tasty.

I say do a roasted veggie dish, maybe seasonal squash? As everyone suggested salads, that's what there is going to be a lot of so I would shoot for something else maybe Grin

how about a balsamic potato salad? there's no mayo, so you don't need to worry about it sitting outside at the picnic. roasted baby potatoes with some pepper and chili powder and thyme and salt, tossed with green onions and sundried tomatoes (or olives, or artichoke hearts) and coated with a tasty balsamic/olive oil/basil sauce. i can put up the whole recipe if you like the idea.

Cut watermelon into wedges with the rind still on.  It is a great grab and go fruit. Or grapes cut into clusters.
