I made some little figures out of hemp and beads with faces painted on them.  I'll have to take some pics.  My nephew loved them.  I think I have a book around here with the directions.  I'll look around and post it if I can find it.  The knots were really easy (the directions were for a cross, but we modified it a bit) once we got started.

Oh, and check under "landyards" which is what we called them way back in girl scout camp.  I'll keep looking for that book too.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is waaaay more than being tired - imagine having the flu every day, quadruple that, and that's me on a good day!  No, I did not stay up too late last night either.....

I found the book, now I just have to get to the scanner and post them.  I probably won't be able to do that for a few days (sorry) since I'll be at my sister's while she is dealing with yet another shoulder surgery.

These are what my nephew and I made - not quite the same, but similar knotting.  I had been looking to use those face beads for quite some time.

Hope the pics help!

I used to make those when I was a kid.  I also used to teach kids to make them at a drop in summer program my town used to run.  The same techniques can be used for hemp for an interesting twist.
