I was playing around tonight with some of the cheap acrylic craft paint and while cleaning up I got a really cool pattern on the piece of scrap fabric I was cleaning up with.  It was a piece of an old 50/50 cotton/poly sheet.  There are varying amounts of paint on the cloth and I have it hanging to dry.  I plan on using it in an art project as the background for something and was wondering if I should seal it somehow.

I just found the information to my own question.  I should spray on a water based varnish.  I can handle that!

So another question for you is, do you have a favorite brand?

I like the idea of that varnish, but it's not the only choice. I would iron it and sew it between two clear vinyl sheets.

I personally haven't had much luck with the spray varnishes. One even made the paint run from the fabric (can't remember the brand, but it was a maroon label.)
