the little oil spill in my neck of the woods has had me thinking of the environment and what we need to do to be good stewards of what God have given us... and it's showing up in my embroidery.. this is my own design.. I call it "for the love of trees".. I used chain stitch for the outline of the tree and branches.. long and short stitch for the fill in of the trunk.. french and bullion knots for the fill in of the green portion of the tree:

I like the way you have used buillion knots to make the leaves. French knots are sweet, but these have a little more texture and direction about them.

thanks everyone.. it was fun.. it's my attempt at painting with thread.. I can see myself doing more of this.. of course. :-)  I think it would be neat to do a whole landscape where the sky and whatnot is filled in.

I want to touch it. (Hey Craftster, get on that will ya? Grin)  Love the bullion knots, it makes the tree look alive and like it is blowing in the breeze.  The landscape idea is wonderful, as an outline kind of a girl I am very impressed by people who fill their pieces!

Wouldn't that be awesome!! being able to touch the ppl's work :-)  I am a former outline girl.. you know how it is - wanting instant gratification.. the fill in def takes more time, but I love the end result.. but Im not saying my outlining days are over :-)
