So, there has been a HUGE trend in the polymer clay world for quite some time, and that trend is RAINBOW CAKES. Seriously - they are everywhere right now! And not just in the polymer clay world - in the baking world, as well! Anyways... I am not usually one to jump on the bandwagon, but I just had to give 'er a try. So here it is. Smiley

It is six fluffy moist layers of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple cake. On top, I slathered some fluffy white frosting and sprinkled on a bunch of sprinkles and some pretty teeny glass marbles.

Nope, it isn't edible - it's ALL polymer clay. The cake is clay. The frosting is clay. And the sprinkles are clay (with the exception of the lil' glass marbles) and the sprinkles were all rolled out by hand. A lot of folks tend to use real sprinkles on their cakes, but I was afraid they would bleed, eventually.

I made it into a pretty little charm.

The plate and fork were just for photo purposes. It isn't actually attached to the cake. Smiley

Such a brilliant idea!  I have been wanting to make one of these cakes (to really eat) for so long but one of my sisters is allergic to red dye, which kind of...well...sucks.  lol.  This is so amazing!  How did you get the texture to be so perfect?

Thanks so much! Cheesy I actually just used a safety pin for the cake. Smiley It's a pretty simple tool, but it works!

I, too, thought it was a real cake (I came to ask how you got the colours so vivid!). Now that I know it is polymer clay, I am even more impressed. That texture is spot on.
