I made this cushion for my exam (foundation studies in art and design) which is finally over, PHEW!!!  Cheesy
I'm in Surface Print (basically designing and printing patterns for fashion, interiors etc.),and my exam theme was the environment where I live (in Bridgend, South Wales when I'm not in uni). I printed a repeat based on traditional terraced houses and the red bricks reminded me of crochet shells, so I thought I'd have a go at crocheting the motif:

-the printed design

-the cushion and close up

Was pretty simple to make, and the cushion is stuffed with plastic bags cause I like recycling. Smiley oh and it was intended to look pretty cutsey/kitsch, the other side is more sensible and modern lol. It got commpliments of my class mates but I'm curious to know what crafty people make of it  Huh

Wow! I love it!  Very cool textures and I really like the black, pink and white color combo.
Did you crochet the motifs and then stitch them on? How?
I think it is a very cool alternative to pillows that are all crocheted.  I'd like to see the other side too please. Smiley

Ooooooo....that is NEAT! I agree, a refreshing alternative to full-body crochet. I can't even describe what I like about it, it's just nifty!

Her dirty paws and furry coat,
She ran down the forest slope.
The forest of talking trees,
They used to sing about the birds and the bees.
The bees had declared a war,
The sky wasn't big enough for them all.

The black bits are rows of dc, the pink is just a simple shell edging and I stitched the pieces onto the fabric by hand. I did write down the pattern but that's in my sketchbook which i wont get back for a while yet. Here's the other side:

The backgound is a motif based on a celtic shield (it looked like a wolf to me) printed in silver ink and the stitched bits are of corn dollies.

It's surprisingly comfy, and yeah it makes a crinkly noise lol but it's more decorative than practical.
