Hello all,

Just wanted to share my epic cake for my son's 21st birthday.
First let me say that I am definitely NOT a professional cake decorator.. LOL.

But, I've always made my kids birthday cakes. This year was my son's 21st birthday. When I asked him what kind of cake he wanted, he was stumped. He said, I want German Chocolate cake with the nut filling, but surprise me.

So, thought and thought. Then, in a moment of inspiration (or desperation or perhaps sheer madness) I came up with it! Since it was his 21st birthday, it would be a homage to his childhood. I started crafting with fondant all the things that he enjoyed from his younger years.

The cake contains characters from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pokemon, Thomas the Tank Engine, Mario characters (bom-boms, bullet bill, gumba, mario, and the red dudes..) , Nintendo Controller (old one), Calvin and Hobbes, Legos, The movie the Brave Little Toaster (lampy, blankie, toaster and radio), and Garfield.

Some of his name came off, which I'll fix tomorrow before the party. The lettering is a bit crooked, and all the characters aren't perfect but, I'm pretty happy with the cake and know he will be too!

Enjoy!  - Tammy
