Okay!  Journal #3!!  Finally finished this for my sister's birthday - only a couple of weeks late (as is tradition between her and me!)  Wink  I kind of feel like I'm getting a little more into the groove - and have been collectiong little charms etc along the way.  I did something a little different with the closure this time - oh buttonhole, how you taunt me!
the front....

and the back.....

By the way Zombie - that crocheted strap goes PERFECT with your bag - great idea!

Oh I love the bag zombie and also how you did the side panels. I am making another bag and have had a lot of trouble with the side panels.....pics soon. Unfortunately i can't crochet so thats not an option for me  Sad But it looks great.

Loving the bird theme thisbirdisabsurd very nice. Hope your sister is pleased and that it was worth the wait.

Love how everyone has their own way of doing it and yet they all look great, the same but different if you know what I mean. Huh

wow--what a great bag!  Love the crochet!

also, loved the Halloween themed bag--I like the idea of using a tying border color like the green..great idea

the journal is fabulous--the closure is really great and I love the wonky shape

I hope to finish my panels before Christmas...I got far behind on so many things

So many cool things on this forum!  I love how they all look so different too.

I got my TM style backpack done a few weeks ago and am finally felling good enough to sit and post it.  I did mine all by hand with craft cotton thread.  I also used the odd bits of cotton batting for the padding instead of stuffing the poptarts.

The front flap.  I have a huge clear button from Grandmothers stash that I will eventually get sewed on here.  I'm just trying to decide if I need to have a shank on it.

This is with the flap up.  I used button fly pants here and kept the pockets, so I didn't have to make many.  The strap is a strap from a bag that I got at a thrift for .69 cents

The boring side of the bag hehehe.  Note the pull tab "loops" for the strap.  So I can re-hook it into a messenger style bag if I wish.  The pull tabs are the big type from a can of soup.  I put 2 back to back and hammered them down so the ruff bits would be covered up and squished down a bit.

The more interesting side.  I wrapped the "back" pocket around to the side.  It's big enough for a cell phone.  There is also a hidden opening so I can put small things into the bag without opening the flap.  A slot really I guess.  I am always picking things up off the ground..part magpie it seems

There are 2 more pockets sewn into the inside.  One is poptarts, and one is from  a ultra suede jacket.  It has a flap with Velcro so I can seal it closed a bit.  I sewed the ultra suede one in just on the sides and bottom so it is 2 pockets in one.  The TM pocket was hanging kind floppy.  SO I sewed a small hair elastic to it and the bone shaped carabiner slips thru that to hold it closed.

The back (the part that goes against my back) is just part of the leg of the jeans.  The suede pocket is sewn to that part (inside).

I am thinking about trying a scarf next.  Maybe using bits of silk shirts for the "back".  Or just not using any stuffing...not quite sure yet.

Thanks for looking! Grin

To all past swap partners....If something I made you fell apart in some way, it would be helpful to me if you PMed me and told me about it.  Sometimes, I try new things, and if they fail, it helps me to know
