Mimi's dolls (for the gals)

I made these dolls for my nieces. These girls have every toy ever made, their parents and grandparents spoil them rotten and, when it came time for me to get them something, I didn't want to perpetuate the cycle of merchandizing. The pattern I lifted from the purl bee (http://www.purlbee.com/the-purl-bee/2009/4/8/mimi-kirchners-hand-sewn-felt-doll.html) which has an amazing tutorial even me, the monkey, can follow.

Each doll was made to look like its owner; my plan is to continue to make more clothes for the dolls (as future gifts) and maybe even encourage the girls to embrace their inner craft goddess in the process.

They are very nice!  They look sturdy and professional.  I love the embroidery on the doll's skirts.  I have to say I, too, am a big fan of the purl bee and their tutorials.  It's how I learned to crochet!

I sincerely hope your nieces parents will appreciate the thoughtful present for their girls.  I know the girls will!  And I love the idea of adding clothes as later presents!  Keep in mind  accessories (sleeping bags, pillows) and pets for the dolls, too!

I too made dolls from the same pattern/tutorial. I made 4 of them, last Christmas, as gifts. The girls loved them and now my mom wants one...LOL!!

That's cute- my son now wants one too (with green shoes and a blue dress). It's a great pattern!
