Whenever I do a magic ring, it doesn't tighten all the way so I still have a hole. Is there something I'm doing wrong or something I should do differently so I don't end up with a hole in the middle of my projects?

(I do the "around the finger" method, if that's important.)

So I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains.

I kept having problems with my rings not even closing cause everything was too tight or twisted or something when I did a variant of the "around the fingers" magic circle. What I did was switch to a different method of doing it. I'm not sure which one you use, as many of them are "around the finger" and I've seen quite a few tutorials out there for different ways.
Here's the one I've been using lately, and everything closes evenly and smoothly, maybe it'll help you.

Fine, fine, I finally made a Pinterest

Amigurumi Double Ring is very tight and can't get loose again. You can find tutorial here:

Here's my take on magic ring

Picture 15 might hold a clue, I've found the when the tail gets wrapped around the loop, it won't pull in as tight. Maybe when you're taking the ring off of your fingers, you are inadvertently twisting the tail around the loop?
