Car organizer

For the Geezer swap, I made my partner an organizer that goes on the back of the seat in her car.  It has several pockets of different sizes, included a pen pocket and enough pockets for maps and travel books. 

It has straps to go around the headrest and to attach to something under the seat so it doesn't flap away in the car.  It's lined with interfacing on both sides so it should stay flat, especially if the top is hooked to something with two "points" (like the headrest - it doesn't just come to a single point like the picture below, but rather it makes a trapezoid with a flattish top).



I also made her a matching trash bag for the car - the inside is lined in the accent fabric coated with clear contact paper that was (very carefully) melted onto it so it can be wiped out after sticky stuff.

aaaahh!  this totally rocks!!! I am so going to have to try the contact paper thing. did you use the oven or a hair dryer? if you don't mind sharing that is, I would love to know I already have a myriad of ideas for the kiddos in the fam using this technique.

Hi Kraftykat! Thanks so much. 

I got the idea from another Craftster, so I don't mind sharing at all.  I put the sticky side on the fabric and got it all smooth, put another piece of fabric on top of it and lightly ironed it - no steam.  The first time I tried it, I ironed way too long and it got all crinkly.  I think it should work out pretty well for wipeable stuff, but I wouldn't put it in the washing machine or anything.  A hair dryer would probably work even better though since there's no direct heat.  Hmm, I'll have to try that next time!

Thanks for sharing, can't believe I didn't think of using an iron (I'm a goof ball) I'm soo excited to try this, I'll have to share my crafty makings with you when they're done.  Thanks again!
