I just heard about this over in the Altered Journal thread and read up on the rules and signed up! I'm now impatiently waiting my grey moleskin so I can being illustrating some nightmares. Cheesy

I'll definitely be going to an exhibit too. Most likely the one in Georgia now that I've moved south. If I happen to be home in NJ visiting when it kicks off though, I may try to make it to the Brooklyn show. I've got plenty of time to figure that out! Wink

Rae - I don't really care for the grainy effect gesso gives either, but last time I used it I sanded it with some fine grit sandpaper and it helped a lot.

Am taking a crafting/posting hiatus and formally withdrawing from all the CAL's I was in.  Need time to recharge and rewire.  But, I am still lurking and loving you guys like crazy, keep posting the amazing projects!!!  You all rock!

I really like this project.  I read about it after Phizzy mentioned it in the altered journal thread, and I'm really tempted by one of the themes.  I'm still not sure whether to go ahead with it though.  I'm such a slacker that I rarely get things finished if I start.

I hadn't thought of that! Now I have to find my sandpaper...in it's absence I've been using my emery board. Don't think it will cut it in this case.

I've also just wandered in, well with Racky's guidance,  Grin.

I was going to just get a moleskin and play along at home with my little journal but seeing all you guys jumping in with both feet has got me wondering if I should do the same thing, hmmm.

I happen to have a couple of the small moleskins here and am thinking that they are the same as what you are getting when you sign up. Will have to go see if I can actually find them and will report back on sizes.

As far as gesso goes, yes, it sands beautifully. I've been using it on sewn, stuffed muslin and have been sanding it down and it feels almost like a soft leather. These pages could be interesting done the same way.

Off to find youtube videos of journals now.

I feel like if I did this project I'd just end up drawing through the whole thing, and not be nearly as creative as everyone else....
