Since my plans got altered last weekend instead of my sketchbook, I decided that I needed a present to spur me on. So, I picked up a package of new Sharpies. And, since this weekend I have to break my promise to myself to correct all papers at school and not lug them home, I'll need something to do (besides eating lots of snacks) in between stacks of papers.

At least it's finished in my head! I just need to list out the order of the pages so I know what colors to paint the backgrounds.

So, long story short, I took a trip to Las Vegas. Prostitution is legal there (Thanks for corrected info), There are guys on EVERY corner handing out what are essentially business cards, for escorts. I discreetly snagged a TON of them hoping to use them in my book. I cut off the phone numbers, and websites.

This page is about the reasons girls dance at different ages. The page is coated in glitter, (something strippers, and young girls have in common), and I used some shiny pink foil that didn't show up in the picture.

I couldn't resist adding two of my favorite song lyrics about dancing. :-)

I currently live in Las Vegas, and prostitution isn't legal here.  It's legal in Reno, and some other counties in Nevada, but not Vegas.

Gosh....I'm feeling like I should have picked boys and girls as a theme. LOL. Love it pretty!! Let me tell you....I had so many friggin ideas for coffee and cigarettes until I actually got my book at which point all my ideas vanished. Eeeek.

I'm thinking I need to rewatch the movie 'Coffee and cigarettes' and maybe get some ideas. (Yes there is a movie called that and I've owned a dvd copy for a while. Long before this sketchbook project, although it is part of the reason I chose this theme.)

Ahh! Thank you for correcting me. I didn't mean anything against your home town, I just had an eye opening experience, and wanted to save some souvenirs for my book.

Well I've finally decided on what to do with my sketchbook theme "It'll be fun I swear". I'm going to go with a "Road Trip" theme. Have also glued the pages together (3 pages = 1 page) so this project now seems a little less daunting than it did before.

I think there is a music cd also - with kd lang and other artists....I think it's also called "coffee and cigarettes"....My sis was in the music biz so I think I have this somewhere....

I like your page PIP--disturbing yet real...I really like how you blackened out the eyes--it makes it even more disturbing to me...

The feet with the lyrics is awesome!!  I will never be able to hear that song again without seeing your feet!

My GF picked Coffee and Cigarettes, too!  I think she has a lot of ideas...you can always branch out into where the stuff is made, do spreads of all sorts of people smoking, from celebrities to the homeless...how about coffee around the world?  can you do stuff with the packs?
