oops, I think i killed a muppet!

Well, here it is, my first "new topic" ever. I made this silly bag for my boyfriend's sister for her birthday. One day my b.f. and I were in a salvation army and there was this chair covered in bright orange shag fur. His response: It looks like someone killed a muppet! From then on, we've been secretly plotting to make furniture from muppets, w/ eyes and all. But we started small, with this purse. I did the sewing, he did the eyes and assisted in artistic direction.   So here it is! Dead Oscar-ish purse. It's a bit wonky, and there's lots of stuff I'll perfect next time, but he'll do.
 
                                          
p.s. i know, i know, he kinda looks like a toilet seat cover.

Thanks you guys, it's a real boost of confidence to hear your nice words. Now tonight or tomorrow hopefully I will find out if the recipient thinks it's cute! *crossing fingers*

ha, yeah, my next bag is going to be reddish orange for sure.  The eyes are just made from these wooden balls w/ holes in the back that I bought at JoAnns, then painted, and screwed through the fabric.

That is SO FUNNY that you mentioned the state skit, b/c i was trying to explain it to my boyfriend, but he's not as..uh cultured, yeah that's it, cultured...as I am. lol. i LOVE that skit, it's one of my favourites.

We wanted to make the eyes out of ping-pong balls, but ended up doing this instead b/c we were afraid those might fall off. They're just these little unfinished wood balls we found at joanns, painted,  and then we put flat head screws threw the flap of the purse into the balls. ta da! Those puppies are NOT coming off!

Hey, you're not the only one killing muppets for fashion. In my area those crazy big furry boots have recently come in style and they all look like they're made of muppet hair.
