So I found out recently that I'm pregnant!  Shocked Cheesy
I'm only around 9 weeks, so I'm still in very early days. We've decided to come out with the news fairly early because if anything does go wrong (all things willing it doesn't!), we want our friends and family to already know, instead of us trying to go through it all alone.

Anyway!

I've decided I want to be obsessive about stretch marks and skin care in general. I do a lot of costuming, and a few costumes on the books will mean I need to have a nice belly by this time next year so I'll be working like crazy to lose any baby weight I gain.

Again, I'm getting a little distracted. Basically I'm wondering if anyone has ideas for what products I should be looking at getting!
I prefer organic or hand-made soaps and moisturisers as a lot of the chemist-bought products dry my skin out or make me itch. As is, I use a moisture bar instead of real soap, because it doesn't irritate my skin.

Is there somewhere I can buy an affordable, good quality stretchmark cream / body butter / bath and shower scrub. I'm also keen on some bath salts or bubbles, because I'm going to need a good relaxing soak soon! Are there any ingredients I should look out for in particular, either as good ingredients or bad ingredients?

The thing is I live in Australia, and I always stress about whether I can ship items from America (and if it's not going to cost me a packet).

Rambling over, thanks for any help!

congrats on the new bebe Smiley and the soon to be new belly!!

cocoa butter cocoa butter cocoa butter...I used a cocoa butter salve on my belly with both boys and havent had a stretch mark in sight!!

Ill look up my exact recipe a little later-it had some sweet almond oil and such in it.. but even just some straight cocoa butter on the belly..all is good!!

I make the salve for my mommy to be friends all the time and its worked wonders even as boobie cream for when they start nursing..

I know there are some not so good for you EOs that you will need to watch out for..I dont have my list handy-I guess I should I have been a little more prepared before I answered your question..I was just excited..hehe!!

I was hunting around for info like this a while ago, when I found out I was going to be a godmother (p.s., baby was born last week and is ADORABLE!).  This thread has some nice stuff in it: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=228693.0

Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil.

Now let's deal with the Essential Oils - there are very few that are safe for your baby during your pregnancy as they bypass the placental barrier.  Think of Essential Oils as over the counter drugs - that's what they are.  The only one I recommend during your pregnancy is Lavender and only after your 1st trimester.  Once baby is born you can place Lavender in the baby's room but no essential oils for your baby until he/she is 3 months old and after that you need to keep it down to a minimum.

so I found my stretch mark recipe..

makes 3.5 ounces

1/4 cup coconut oil
2tbs cocoa butter
2tsp sweet almond oil

I store it in a small tupperware like container..it does melt if stored in a warm area..

I LOVE this oil!!
