Okay, lapoli has graciously let me start the thread for this week. Cheesy  I totally dropped the ball last week and didn't post my WIP, so I'm all excited to do it this week!  (We won't get into the gray wrap that I'm STILL working on ... ah well.)

So I'm giving my grandfather a pair of hand-knit socks for Christmas.  Knowing how slow I am to get things done, I started last week.  (I hope the fact that I'm making them for someone other than me will get me to finish them a bit more quickly!) This is my first pair of socks and I'm somewhat dreading the next step (eep, the heel flap!)

Anyway, I've got the cuffs done and a few rows of the leg.  They don't look like much yet, but I'm terribly happy with how they're turning out!  I got the yarn at the MD Sheep and Wool Festival and it's lovely.  I've decided to knit them row by row, two at a time because I see the future where I've got one done and have to do the second and am unenthused by the prospect. Cheesy

So what are you all working on?

hello, this is my first WIP posting  Smiley  I'm a relative newb to knitting. I think I've been knitting now for about 8 months. I have my first grandchild due this coming Christmas and am attempting to knit my first baby sweater. We don't know if my daughter is having a girl or boy as of yet, so I'm just knitting to show myself I can do it. I'm making this sweater

... Wish me luck, as I've only ever done dishcloths so far.

That is going to be a great sweater, Solitaire!  I love the color and the lacey top is just precious!  It looks awesome so far!

Excellent WIPs this week! I wish I could post what I've been working on, but right now it is all swap items and that would spoil it for my partner...once the swapping is finished, I will definitely be contributing...I have several WIP that are hibernating currently.

Great work everyone!

It's fun that both of the WIPs posted this week are firsts! First socks and first sweaters. It looks like you guys are making great progress. Keep it up!

kaz - don't be nervous about the heel. You are going to be surprised at how easy it will all come together.

I'm in the same boat as striker. I have a couple of WIPs but yet again they are both for swaps Smiley. I did manage to finally finish all of my geezer swap knitted goodies. I'll post them once my partner receives.
