Black and White dress with matching boots and sandals, with pictures galore

[DIY revolution]

So, for this (my first) challenge, I decided to go with the one sheet I already had and wasn't using, which had the disadvantage of being limited to just the one sheet but the advantage of being, well, in my closet instead of at the store. It is my dorm sheet from college, which I bought at a discount store as a queen size and had chopped to make it an extra-long twin (dorm) size. Double reuse alert!

I used a vintage pattern as a starting point but made lots of changes in addition to altering it to fit me including adding piping at the yoke and buttoned tabs at the shoulders, changing the neck and armhole facings into a full yoke lining to reduce sheerness, changing the french darts which I dislike into a horizontal and a vertical dart at the bust, shortening it and eliminating the center front seam.

Then the matching boots came. I had these really slouchy old boots that I've worn a hundred times but are so slouchy that I had to layer socks and leg warmers to keep them from falling over my feet. I finally remade them by cutting them up the front and adding turquoise zippers, and lining it with the matching fabric so that I can fold them down a bit and get varying degrees of pattern showing.

Sorry that was way more information than necessary, thanks for looking!!!!! I had a lot of fun, even though it's 95 degrees in Minneapolis and just trying on the dress and boots made me sweat profusely and swear profanely.

Thanks everyone! I think it looks good without the belt too, my girlfriend liked the belt, I guess it's versatile.
