ooh good, you posted up the cd so I don't have to!  Wink  Thanks so much boygirlparty.  I love your CD.  Love the tracks by That Dog.  Did you know the lead singer of That Dog sang on the Weezer track, "I Just THrew Out The Love Of My Dreams"?  Have you ever heard of it?  I think it was a B-Side for one of Weezer's singles.

Oh, Susie, I almost forgot!  About the whole "Homie/ Soul coughing" mixup.  It turns out River Cuomo (lead singer of Weezer) would occassionally get together with random members of other groups and perform at little venues and stuff a few years ago.  The people in the group would keep changing but the group itself would go by the name of "Homie." But yes, you are indeed right, some members of weezer, soul coughing, sumo, and cake perform on the track.  I decided to do some research on all this because I was confused.   Huh  But now I'm not.   Grin

You are a DIY superstar.  I've been admiring your stuff over at Plain Mabel for a while.  And I LOVE the postcards you send me as well.  I post of pics of them either tonight or tomorrow so everyone can see what an awesome artist you  are.

Yes, this was a great swap.  I really enjoyed this one.

ooh good, you posted up the cd so I don't have to!  Wink  Thanks so much boygirlparty.  I love your CD.  Love the tracks by That Dog.  Did you know the lead singer of That Dog sang on the Weezer track, "I Just THrew Out The Love Of My Dreams"?  Have you ever heard of it?  I think it was a B-Side for one of Weezer's singles.

hi!  i'm so glad you liked your cd too! + the postcards!
i have some info for you:
the singer on "i just threw out the love of my dreams" is rachel haden - the bassist + one of the singers (but not the lead singer) in that dog.  the lead singer in that dog is anna waronker, who released a solo record last year or so and who can sometimes be heard singing on a jc penney jingle (i'm pretty certain it's her!)  i think she also did the music for the josie + the pussycats movie!  i heard she is also writing the songs for paris hilton's record, which is sort of scary.
rachel haden (that dog's bassist) is a triplet - and one of her sisters is petra haden, who plays violin and sings in that dog. she also plays/sings in the rentals, and is a new member of the decemberists - and she just released an amazing a capella cover version of the who "sell out" LP!!!  she plays on lots of indie records.. next time you hear violin, quick, check the liner notes!!!
the rentals have, besides matt sharp of weezer and petra haden of that dog, 3 members of the amazing, underappreciated band supersport 2000 (who are the first track on your mix cd!) and cherie - singer of ss2000 - is the person who wrote 'my summer girl' as well as the opening track on your mix cd!
so there you have it: the complex connection between a few of the bands on both of our mix cds!

diy superstar??? hee!!!!!!
thanks for the nice words + i'm so glad you liked the swap! i did too!

Oops, Quarkiegirl, that cd was from me. I'm pretty bad at remembering to put my name on stuff. Also...sorry about the lame-o way I wrote down the tracks, but I'm glad you like the music! Just stuff that always makes me feel like a good roadtrip soundtrack...  Smiley
