Recently, we remodeled our kitchen and keeping room, and once we were able to get re-settled, realized our old artwork just didn't go with the new room. After bringing home a few new contenders for wall art, and having them rejected by Mr. 'Coo, I decided it might just be best to make my own art for the space. Doing anything large scares me to death, so I decided to do 9 small canvases and make them work together.

I purchased the 8" by 8" canvases at Michaels, and armed with my favorite scrapbook paper, Graphics45, I chose nine colors and patterns that went well with the room. Then came the fun part: I went through my embarrassingly large stash of ephemera and metal doodads, and played around with things until they worked. I took several pics throughout the process, in case I messed something up and wanted to go back to an earlier version. All in all, I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out, and Mr. 'Coo is happy as well. Props to him for helping me hang them all relatively straight.

Here's the whole set:

And if you'd like to see them up close, here are individual shots and interesting info about the pieces (if any) amaryllisroze sent me the metal numbers, and the oversized tickets they are on are by Tim Holtz:

Mr. 'Coo loves to fish. The postcard was sent to my grandmother in 1920:

Old Bingo card from Stifflersmom:

Old soap coupons and milk cap I picked up at an antique store:

Palmistry hand from Phizzychick:

Ad from alteredmommy, and the best advice ever written (DO NOT UNTIMELY DIE!) from Phizz. I can't tell you how long I have hung on to this, waiting on the perfect project to showcase the wisdom! I had to put the "Domestic Goddess" tag on there, too, because it's so NOT me.  Cheesy:

Old prescription from the 1890's, and another of my grandmother's postcard collection, this one from 1916. The brass tags are old railway markers, purchased on ebay:

Just some stuff I like. The fortune that the bird holds reads "Your home is a pleasant place from which you will draw happiness." Aw...

And, finally number 9, dancing lady from an Alpha Stamps collage sheet, metal clover that my daughter found and saved for me, and a cap from a bottle of Ravenswood wine:

Here's how they look in the room. Eventually, Mr. 'Coo is going to make a long skinny table to go under there, but for now, this little round one will have to do.

Thanks for checking them out.  Smiley

They turned out great!  So much to look at and such stories behind each piece!  It is wonderful to have something meaningful to share in your room!

I love them individually and as a collection!  My favorite is #6!
