My project is a light weight, three coloured summer Yakata. This is a more casual version of a Japanese Kimono. It took me about 6 hours to make, and I used three king sized, flat sheets I got at the thrift store. The top part is light purple, the bottom is peach and the collar and sleeves are meduim pink.

I used the seams on the sheet so I didn't have to hem it. Cheesy

I also used a brown camo print fabric for the yoke of the yakata. Using a wild, print fabric for the yokes of the kimonos and yakatas is make is my signature.

Here are the sheets before I got started:

That is beautiful! I would love to make one for myself. Maybe I shall go out and find some old sheets.

\(^_^)/HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!\(^_^)/

I've made myself keep off the board for 2 days, or I would do nothing but haunt this thread. Cheesy

So to reply:

kaz814--Thank you! I have a few other made of different fabrics and colours, but the idea of a sheet has opened a whole new realm of ideas for me!

achgfd--Thank you! Cheesy

blupaisan & kyut530--It is!! The day my sister and I went out to take pictures was ridiculously hot, and I thought I would be absolutely wilting, but I was pleasantly surprised. Smiley

Belladune--Thank you! It took a while for me to settle on these colours. And the crazy yokes started as an accident of not enough fabric, and have become my excuse for buying wild prints that I could otherwise have no conceivable use for. Cheesy

And thank you all for looking! Cheesy
