This is the first project I've posted here, I'm usually a pretty avid lurker, so here goes.

This is a project that I continually worked on for about a year and finished last summer.  I'm just posting it now because I was just recently reminded of it after hearing about the Portal 2 game coming out soon.

Anyhoo, it's made out of Caron's Simply Soft and Lion Brand's Cotton Ease.  It's about 18" cubed (which is actually a lot more volume than I initially imagined), and made up of a lot of small pieces that I had to then (regretfully) stitch together.

Ingredients (all done in single crochet):
1. 24 gray 8” x 8” panels
2. 24 light gray triangular corner pieces
3. 24 light gray long rectangles for corners
4. 32 small light gray triangles for corners
5. 48 small light gray rectangles for corners
6. 24 medium light gray rectangles for corners
7. 6 pink hearts
8. 6 light gray hexagons
9. 24 light gray edge pieces
10. 2 long pink strips

Pictures:

The last one is me dressed up as Chell for Halloween last year.  It was a last minute/night before throw together outfit after looking around the house for a costume, then looking at the cube, and then going and buying an orange kid's prisoner jumpsuit and having to alter it with fabric marker and a quick bit of sewing.  It was a big hit though, a lot of ooh's, aww's, and 'omg, make me one's.

Hope you guys like it!

Edited to add a link to it's Ravelry Project page, which you can use to get to the free pattern.

 Shocked!!

This was a triumph~

Edit: Sorry this was so awesome that I had to pull the comment trigger before I could pull my thoughts together.  I love that it's to scale and looks so cuddly!  Sucks that there was so much sewing involved but I'm so GLaD you persisted.  The jumpsuit is also great.  You could reuse the companion cube and dress up as a pit of fire for a demented twist on a Portal costume (and make people cry...Cry)

It's hard to overstate my satisfaction. Smiley

I've never played the game, but I can see why it's such a cult favorite. Way to persevere on sewing that cube together. It was worth it.
