I LOVE recycling fabric!

I'm a superintendent at my county fair and I recon shirts to go with the fair's theme of the year. What does this have to do with sheets, you ask? Well, I wasn't going to do this challenge as I am a brand newbie but I was at the thrift store searching for pirate/gem/$ related t-shirts for the fair when I spotted this awesome tie-dye pattern twin flat sheet!

I learned how to make circle skirts on whatthecraft.com years ago. That got me to thinking: What if I made a circle skirt out of 4 circles with off-centers?

It took some figuring and measuring (okay, make that a lot), but, nervously, I cut the sheet into 4 equal circles with off-center holes.

I sewed them to the waistband (some white knit fabric that, I think, was a t-shirt), didn't like it, did some thinking, seam-ripping, and cutting, and re-sewed it. I finished the edges, covered them with quilt binding, and got this:

When I went seam-ripping, I had taken the bottom circle that hadn't showed beneath the other 3 and re-attached it to the waistband higher up, stretching the waistband as I went to that it poofed a bit.

I'm really glad I made this as, like I said, I'm a newbie and it gave me a chance to polish and learn some skills.

Thank you!

~Carrie

This is a great looking skirt! The white binding is such a great touch. I think blupaisan said it best..."crisp and colorful".

Very very nice!

I don't usually like tie-dye but this is a very cute example!  The pattern reminds me of doppler radar images.  I particularly like the offset tiers. Smiley

Wow. That bed sheet was quite a find. I love the look of your skirt. The binding really gives it a classy edge to offset the explosion of color. Great job. Wink

This skirt is so pretty.  The white binding around the hem sets it off perfectly.  What a great variation on the circle skirt.
