Since it's an art quilt, how far can we go with techniques? Like incorporating paint and raw edges? Or is it supposed to be stitching only?

I'm going through the Gallery for the 2nd round of this swap and there was a quilt that incorporated raw edges, painted fabric, decoupage, and free motion quilting. It's the "Apples" quilt here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=326125.80

I think that apple quilt is awesome if that is your kitchen/dining room style and love the raw edges...I am thinking about them in a quilt I am doing for a lady...I think it would be up to you and your partner but most of us here are just like leave it open to make it how you want but again that is just part of the Art process I think, just as much as beading..Hey there was also the cool elephant in the round 2 with painted on eyes...

I love all the techniques used in the 2 galleries, but I have my design idea down, and while it will take some time, it will be simple in looks, but will have some fine detail. It will incorporate the one thing I do very well.

Who's the tease??? Yes, I can't wait to get my sewing space cleaned and cleared. I'll just say there are more than one on the front, and if time permits another one on the back.

~ giggling~ Great minds...I am thinking of doing a little one for you of ___________! I think time will be good to make it happen as the only swaps I am really doing are not big ones most are wishes and that is easy enough LOL...I am really looking forward to getting into the Groovyness of this quilt Wink MUAH!!

Just talked to my mom...She said I should totally make some groovy hippy marbling to start your quilt and go from there. She told me more then anyone person should EVER know about their mom and the hippy scene from her few years living on Ashbury street..I knew she lived by the Grateful dead I had no idea she lived 3 doors away from them..She was a total flower power chick..That is why she went to Woodstock She was friends with them. I think I was told that long ago but DAMN that is cool to know now...To only have lived in that time and see it all.. I was 2 weeks old when she headed to Woodstock...Wow...She said too bad I am not there she would help me make some awesome fabric to start this with or get into her old boxes ( she never throws anything out) ...I am stoked and this swap:)

My mom is a total nut! I call her a suffocated Hippy chick...she is a total Hippy at heart still and had to somewhat conform to the real world when the 60's ended.....her stash I wish I was in Seattle I would so get into it but I am here in NC and 3000 miles sad.. she finally a few years ago cut her long hippy hair LOL she gave it to some hippy friend name Mussy Messy Mussy who made a little purse with it for her niece as she had cancer and would not ware a wig...ROTFL she would paste flowers to her bald head all over it and headbands etc..sad they were not looked at odd in Seattle...
