i really love this shawl but im not exactly sure what its called. i found a book that has the pattern along with a few other prayer shawl patterns but its the only one i really like and im not sure i wanna buy it if i can find the pattern online for free.

It's hard to tell from the picture but it looks like its a rectangle that is stitched in a tub for the arms. Do you have a picture of the back? it also looks like its crocheted in the back loops...

no this was the only picture they had a close up of. i just wasnt sure if it had a more specific name that i could google.

okay. i dont know what it would be called... but i would say measure your arm span and crochet the chain that long, crochet in the back loop only and make it as long as you want to to have the draping effect around your arms. it looks like it is double crochet but i cannot tell for sure. then just stitch together the areas that go around your arms... hope that helps!
