OK, so I'm in!  Grin  I think this is a great way to celebrate the holiday.  I always feel like I don't do enough for them.  I think it is just because there is so much stress and pressure and fanfare on national holidays, my little rituals seem too easy...

What do you guys do to feel like you've sufficiently celebrated the holiday?

Hi Sol! I haven't seen you in ages. *waves*

Welcome Abbee! My celebrations are usually pretty simple and lack a lot of fanfare. I usually try to mark the chaging of the seasons in some way, such as creating seasonal meals or doing something outdoors to signify that season's activities. I usually hold small rituals as well to mark the turning of the wheel of the year.

All that being said, I'd LOVE to attend a big shiny Beltane or Samhain festival one year. Wink

Urgh, can't decide...

I'll leave for Germany this Sunday and I'll return on the send-out date :p. But I need some witchy energy soon, because I feel so out of touch... *ponders*
Guess my father won't be too happy when I ask him to take the pyro with us... *angel*

Hey Solitaire - it was great to see your post - give the kids a hug!

This is one of those that always slips by me - I start thinking Samhain and miss/neglect this one totally - try to always be thankful but August just seems the wrong moment. We used to celebrate the grape harvest but that was October too - must find a way to get in touch with this celebration - already thinking up things to make and doing prelim research - can't wait!

Sounds wonderful!  I wonder if they have anything like that by me?  I will have to do some research.

I just looked at your profile and you live seriously like 20 minutes from where I used to live!  Cheesy Oh, I miss NJ.

I know there are fairy festivals and things like that in Cherry Hill and some groups that meet up and hold festivals in some of the shore towns. I've never gone and aren't sure how far you'd like to drive, but it's definitely something to look in to.

Now that I've moved away to the South and can't even find a whisper of something like that, I regret not going to any of those events. Figures. At least I have Ren Faire to look forward to in October... Wink

DanniQuee -- haha...everyone is connected to NJ somehow...it's like the 6 degrees of seperation thing  Tongue  You must be a native Jerseian -- no transfer would say they miss it!  I am from upstate NY originally (near Canada), but I am learning to love NJ.  The Del Water Gap, the Shore, NYC, all within an hours drive...can't really beat that.  Cherry Hill is pretty south, but we go south a lot in the summer (shore & orchards), so we could always make it a double trip...thanks for the info!

I'm actually surprised there aren't any festivals in SC.  How far are you from Asheville, NC?  I have a group of friends that moved there and they are overwhelmed with festivals.
