Mechanical Birdie v.2.0

I made a newer version of my mechanical birdie - this is version two-point-zero!

He's got more panel detailing... tail feathers... LED eyes... detailed wings...





I made another one, which is slightly different in his details, without legs and gave him a wire nest. I took some photos of him outside in his "natural" habitat.





He's made from polymer clay, but finished to look like metal.

Is the eye for the sitting bird an led made in the same way as the standing one?  Looks like there's an empty channel around that one--very effective.

For both the first and second birdies I used LED for the eyes, but for the first one I used polymer clay in the golden part around the eyes... the second one I used a gold grommit. I like both ways, but doing it with polymer clay can be tricky to get it symetrical on both sides for the eyes.

And YES, the eyes are LED's... but they do not light up. I don't have the electronics know-how for that. Plus they are solid sculptures, so that would mean I would have to bake the batteries inside... I don't know what sort of disaster that would turn out to be. :O
