Recovered car seat. :)

My best friend is pregnant, and us being only 17, she probably won't get much for her baby. Luckily for her, me and my dad are big on being thrifty. We found a bunch of baby stuff and 3 car seats for the different stages. Anyway, we got her this one for her to take the baby home in, and we also got a stroller to go with it. Unfortunately, they were totally different colors. I have yet to do the stroller, and maybe I'll post that when I finish it. Anywho, on to the actual reason for this post.

This was such a pain to finish. The edging took about 2038947287352 tries to actually get done. I'm really proud of it though.

Edit/Add: I'm glad all of you like it. Unfortunately I may have to ask for it back. Would that be considered rude? I mean, she put a set on her gift registry. So she really won't need it, and I could definitely use the money that I could get from selling it.

Unfortunately it's not easy being a teen mom due to the fact that not too many people are happy for you Your friend is very lucky to have you You did an awesome job on this and good luck with the stroller! I have 3 kids and have yet to try a carseat cover!

Awesome...I love the fabrics, I bet your friend will make a lot of other new mums very jealous!
if you have a bit of material left, could you make some soft strap covers? I found that when my kiddies were tiny their cheeks were always in contact with the straps so it was more comfortable with covers (plus, they dribble )

adorable!  i love your creativity and i like how well made those are - snug fitting and just plain adorable.

pls check the dates on your car seats.  they expire after 5-6 years (at least most seats do - some brands are longer life - check with manufacturer) - the plastic may appear fine but it can become brittle.  and accidents happen. . . so it's good to have a 'safe' car seat.  graco seats expire in december of the 6th year. . .

if the seats are expired, contact the local health dept in your area and ask about the car seat program - they should be able to direct you to a location for a new car seat free of charge as the child grows.

i am a big car seat advocate so felt i should say something in case you didn't know about car seats expiration dates. . .
