This is the robot project my wife referenced in her robot birthday thread:

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=347769.0

I started out making the head, body, and limbs:

Then I layed it out:

This is the finished welded metal portion:

Then I soldered up some LED's, 2 9 volt batteries and some resistors to a couple switches (which the lil' guy loves!):

I want, I want!!! It would be cute to make one that functions as a lamp. Oooo... That is what I want, lol.

Your son is so lucky to have you for a dad.  That is too freakin cool!!!

I wanted to put lights in my robots but so far its only an attachment instead of being wired up on the inside like yours.  I need to learn more about electronics... those buttons and switch you put in there... ultra cool.

YOU ROCK.

I checked out your robots, they are amazing, the style is very unique.  it makes me think of turn of the century imagery of futuristic robots.
the LED's and switches aren't too bad, i am an electrical engineer, so they are familiar territory Smiley  i can send you info on how it is done if you would like, lemme know Smiley
