I like the packaging idea. So many things come in sturdy packages that seem to BEG for up/recycling. Cat litter containers are one. Some of those squared buckets are hardcore, and I absolutely hate tossing them out.  But what to do with them?

Pinkkitteh: I grab the buckets & use them for LOTS of things...
Lego
Gathering weeds/rocks from the garden
Bucket for "in transition" plants
Put road salt in it & a small cup to toss on the sidewalk in winter
Dog food
Flour pail
Potato pail
Kitchen compost bucket
Making sandcastles
Making snow forts
First aid kit
Emergency supplies

How about unused pages from jotter books ?
At the end of the school term, kids always have left over pages in their exercise books.
It'll be great to gather them together into a new jotter book.

I'd like to create artist books from my junk mail. I keep collecting it with that intent, but then end up sending it to the Abitibi paper recycling box at the school.

Maybe an idea involving bathroom plastics?  I'm thinking, deodorant containers, shampoo bottles, disposable razors, plastic toothbrushes...  I can't seem to think of anything useful to do with any of those things, and it seems like something that almost everyone would have some of.

I like the bathroom plastics and something from packaging! 

I have an idea to add what about old phone books? most people have them lying around and who uses them anyway when you can look stuff up on the internet?  All of those yellow pages might make nice flowers or something! maybe they'd be good to paper mache something with?

I was thinking... rather than a challenge where everyone used the same materials what if we all made a certain item?

Like:
a Madonna challenge: use stuff to make something (not just clothes) that an 80s madonna fan would love!
a glasses challenge: make things into the shape of a pair of glasses, or funktafy an old pair of glasses!
a bra challenge: make a bra out of who knows what!
a cozy challenge: make a ______ cozy out of crazy crap!
a laptop sleeve challenge: make something to cover your laptop and pad it will that green plastic easter grass!

just trying to brainstorm some interesting things, lol
I am still thinking about the Madonna one tho, I may have to try it

oh, I only wish you lived near me!  I could use them to put my entire veggie garden in come spring.  But, more seriously, take them to your local daycare centers.  they use them for storing blocks, toys, socks, mittens, anything at all!
